Rocky Mountain Peer Tutoring Conference
Sep 15th, 2004 | By Stephanie Leary | Category: ArchivesThe 12th annual RMPTC will be hosted by the UVSC Writing Center and the Rocky Mountain WritingCenterAssociation, a regional affiliate of the International Writing Center Association.
“It is by teaching that we teach ourselves, by relating that we observe, by affirming that we examine, by showingthat we look, by writing that we think, by pumping that we draw water into the well.”–Henri-Frederic Amiel Now is the time for “Returning to Our Roots.” Much like the underground support systems for trees, our roots nourish us, build us up, and make us who we are. Now and then, we need to look at our roots and determine what makes us the writers, tutors, and teachers that we are.
As Amiel suggests, if we are to help students, we must first help ourselves. We must reexamine the reasons for doingwhat we are doing. Then we can take the time to stay currentin our fields, use our knowledge, and build our own writing skills. It is with this in mind that we invite you to find your roots at the 12th annual RMPTC.
