It is with great pleasure and excitement that I bring you the annoucement of our EWCA 2005 Conference–”Local Practice/Global Vision”–to be held in Halkidiki, Greece, June 17-19. We, the EWCA Board, organize this conference and send out this “Call for Proposals” with the sincere hope that as many of you as possible can join us next June in sharing your own “local” practices and contributing to our collective vision for writing center work at this juncture in its history.

Building upon our illuminating and moving gathering at Sabanci University in Istanbul last April 2004, at which a number of young and enthusiastic voices offered fresh ideas and direction to Writing Center theory and practice, we hope with this conference to continue to strengthen ties among writing centers across Europe, to further solidify our identity as a regional affiliate of the International Writing Center Association (IWCA), and to do our part to contribute to the emerging international dialogue which will hopefully ensure writing centers globally a permanent place within educational frameworks.

Please plan to join us next June, under the golden Greek sun and next to crystal blue waters, to share with us your energy and your voice.
