Director of the Writing Center

Wittenberg University, a Lutheran church-related university with an enrollment of approximately 1,900 students, seeks a Director of the Writing Center. Responsibilities of the job include (but are not limited to) refining and advancing the philosophy and goals of the Center; hiring, training, and supervising student writing advisors; teaching an intermediate composition course as part of that training; working with students in the center; conducting workshops and consulting with faculty members on their writing assignments and assessment; communicating with the campus on activities of the Writing Center, and completing a range of administrative reports, budgets, committee work, and analyses. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., M.A., or M.F.A in English or a related field. Preference will be given to those with three years of administrative experience in a writing center. Experience in working with ESL students is desirable. Candidates should have a strong commitment to writing across the curriculum and the undergraduate liberal arts college. This is a nine-month administrative appointment reporting to the Office of the Provost and maintaining collegial rapport with academic departments and student support centers in math, languages, and oral communication.
