Are you interested in becoming part of an exciting educational vision? Eastern Kentucky University invites applicants for a tenurable faculty appointment with a 12-month assignment for the Director of the Studio for Academic Creativity, with a negotiable start date of August 2009. The Studio for Academic Creativity, to be located in Eastern Kentucky University’s Libraries Complex, will combine writing, communication, and research services within a newly designed space (www.studio.eku.edu <http://www.studio.eku.edu> ). The director will be responsible for management of staff and budgets, implementation of academic support services with an integrated approach, outreach to the university community, and programmatic assessment.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, experience developing students who can think critically and communicate effectively, and administrative or supervisory success. A doctorate in composition, speech communication, information studies, or related fields and academic credentials suitable for a tenured appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the candidate’s discipline is required. Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution. A demonstrated ability to engage students in the teaching/learning process is expected. Experience directing a writing center or a communication lab is preferred.
