Writing Across the Curriculum Institute for Community Colleges, June 22-24, 2011

May 1st, 2011 | By | Category: Archives

MCC-Longview will host a Writing Across the Curriculum Institute for Community Colleges, June 22-24, 2011, on the Longview campus in Lee’s Summit, a suburb in the Kansas City metro area.

The institute offers a focused and interactive opportunity for WAC directors, discipline faculty, and college administrators to learn practical strategies for starting and sustaining a WAC program in a community college or two-year college setting.

The institute offers two threads, one for those seeking to design or launch a WAC program and another for those who have established a program and want to keep it energized and plan for its continued growth.

This experience includes a mix of plenary, workshop, panel, and discussion sessions on these topics:

  • program models and design
  • determining program features
  • troubleshooting existing or potential challenges
  • designing general education writing assessment
  • ensuring effective engagement of faculty

More details are available on our new blog, The Lake Effect: a WAC Blog at http://wacblog2010.blogspot.com/p/wac-institute-for-community-colleges.html .

Registration and lodging information will be forthcoming.
