The International Writing Centers Association is proud to announce the recipients of the Outstanding Book Award for 2011:

Karen Rowan (Cal State San Bernidino) and Laura Greenfield (Women’s Voices Worldwide, Inc) for their edited collection, Writing Centers and the New Racism: A Call for Sustainable Dialogue and Change. (2011). Logan, UT: Utah State University Press.

The book was selected to receive the award for initiating a dialogue and deepening our understanding of how race plays out in the daily work of writing centers. Each chapter is provocative and thought provoking and serves as an example of the ways that writing center work is a window into literacy practices of our institutions writ large.  Writing Centers and the New Racism is an important book at an important moment for writing center studies.
