The Director is responsible for shaping and carrying out the mission and vision of the University Writing Program. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities to:
–Provide leadership for interdisciplinary writing literacy on campus, based on best practices for specific disciplines, departments, and constituents
–Direct the SVSU Writing Center, supervising the Coordinator and the peer tutoring staff and conducting research to ensure that the Center effectively meets the needs of students and faculty
–Direct the Saginaw Bay Writing Project (a site of the National Writing Project), supervising an Assistant Director and providing vision and direction for the site
–Serve as liaison to the First Year Writing program and other campus programs, committees, and initiatives concerned with writing literacy
–Provide leadership for academic integrity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Scholarship and previous experience in writing program administration. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in interdisciplinary environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or a closely related field.
