Temple University Writing Center Program Specialist, Half-Time (Deadline: March 25, 2013)Mar 15th, 2013 | By IWCA Web Editor | Category: Positions
Temple University will be hiring a new half-time administrator in the Temple University Writing Center to work on organizing programs and services for international/ESL students.
The new “program specialist” will work with us to develop our conversation partners program, and to imagine and create other programs, activities, and workshops aimed at promoting students’ language development.
The posted job description describes the required qualifications for the job as 1.) a BA/BS degree and 2.) at least two years of experience teaching language learners, or 3.) an equivalent combination of education and experience. Please note that we will be taking the “equivalent combination” option very seriously! We are really hoping to hire someone with graduate training in TESOL (or applied linguistics, or language-learning pedagogy.) We want a colleague who is familiar with the research on language learning and who can use that to help us think creatively about programs. Any potential applicants who are unsure about whether they would meet the qualifications for the position should feel free to email me directly (email@example.com).
The salary range for the position will be low-to-mid 20K’s for 24 hours per week of work. There will be some opportunity for flexibility in the schedule. The person will not be eligible for health benefits, but will accrue paid sick and vacation days. The start date is flexible, but we hope to have the new person in place by or before the end of May.
To apply for this position, applicants should go to www.temple.edu, and click on Careers at Temple. Please reference TU-16286. AA, EOE, m/f/d/v. We will begin reviewing applications on March 25th, and continue until the position is filled.
