The Southeastern Writing Center Association is pleased to announce that we are accepting nominations for our annual awards.
Awards will be presented at the 2013 SWCA conference to be held at Eastern Carolina University in Greenville, NC, February 6-‐8. For more information, please visit our conference site: http://www.iwca-‐swca.org/Conferences.html. We hope to see you there!
SWCA Achievement Award
The SWCA Achievement Award recognizes the outstanding, sustained body of work of a writing center director or supervisor to a particular writing center, SWCA, and/or the writing center community at large.
SWCA Tutor Award (3 categories)
SWCA Tutor Awards recognize leadership, commitment, and overall excellence of individuals working in an SWCA writing center. Individuals can be nominated in one of three categories:
- Undergraduate Tutor
- Graduate Tutor
- Professional Tutor (for non-‐students employed as tutors)
To nominate someone for an SWCA Award, email the following information to Karen Head, SWCA Awards Committee Chair, at email@example.com. Self-‐nominations are welcome. All nominations must be submitted by October 12, 2013. Once nominations are received, nominees will be invited to put together applications for their respective awards.
The following information is needed:
- Nominee’s name
- Award (choose one) SWCA Achievement Award
SWCA Undergraduate Tutor Award SWCA Graduate Tutor Award SWCA Professional Tutor Award
- Nominee’s institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number
Note: If you are nominating someone, please let the nominee know so she/he/they will have ample time to begin collecting materials for the application. Although nominations have an October deadline, the application deadline is November 1st. Also, nominees must be SWCA members or come from SWCA member institutions. Winners will be notified by November 13th so they will have time, if they wish, to apply for conference scholarships.
In the past, we have often extended deadlines. Given our timeline this year, our deadlines are absolutely firm. Please do not delay in your nominations and applications.
