The Business Writing Specialist provides advanced professional training for all College of Business students and will assist faculty members in business writing-focused curriculum development, student writing assessment, and research writing; administers a diagnostic system for evaluating and tracking the writing skills of students over the course of the program; tutors and encourages both graduate and undergraduate business students in their writing on an appointment or drop-in basis; develops business-writing resource materials for students and professors; offers critical business-writing support to students through business courses via the use of small groups; individual meetings and follow-up sessions; present classroom workshops for CoB students and will continue to develop the skills needed for writing support services through participating in training, connecting to business and writing center communities, asking questions, and reading current pedagogical materials.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English Composition, Business Communication or other relevant degree field required. Candidate must have extensive experience in tutoring or coaching students in writing, critiquing, proofing, and editing business writing; ability to explain rules and concepts of English language, grammar and writing; mastery of Microsoft Office Suite of software packages preferred; knowledge of business and professional writing preferred; familiarity with writing center theory desired; proficiency in collecting/analyzing data and creating reports/charts preferred; familiarity with Microsoft Access preferred; self-motivation desirable.
