Position Summary:    The Director of Tutoring and Academic Support provides vision, oversight, and implements programs and procedures for a wide range of peer and paraprofessional tutoring, including, but not limited to: study groups, workshops, Supplemental Instruction (SI), online delivery modalities and early intervention strategies that promote and help ensure student success. The Director will provide ongoing consultation and communicate with faculty and university wide program coordinators for tutor recruitment and identification of students in need of academic support. The Director will expand current programs assisting students on an Academic Recovery Plan (probation). The Director will also facilitate the hiring of tutors, assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of student tutors in collaboration with the Math/Science/Business Coordinator and the Writing Center Coordinator, and will directly supervise these two Coordinators. This individual will also coordinate tutoring for additional academic subject areas. The Director will conduct ongoing assessment of tutoring needs and specific student needs, address concerns and negotiate their resolution.

Minimum Qualifications    – Master’s degree required
– Three to five years of teaching and/or tutoring experience, curriculum development experience, program coordination, management, staff supervision and conflict resolution in a higher education setting
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, databases, SPSS and other relevant software relating to tutoring activities
Preferred Qualifications    – Preferred degrees in education, liberal studies and/or arts and related experience working with diverse traditional and non-traditional college students
– Experience recruiting, hiring and training peer tutors using one of the national tutoring association models and/or learning assistance organizations
– Experience and demonstrated success with an early alert and/or probation or academic recovery program
