Visiting Senior Program Coordinator, Writing Excellence Initiative, Elon University (working with Writing Center and WAC/WID)
Elon University’s Writing Excellence Initiative (www.elon.edu/wei) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month (August 2014 – May 2015) Visiting Senior Program Coordinator position in support of the Writing Center (www.elon.edu/writingcenter) and the Writing Across the University Program (www.elon.edu/cwe). The Writing Excellence Initiative is an innovative, institution-wide project designed to make writing a signature experience of every student’s Elon education.
Responsibilities: The Visiting Senior Program Coordinator will partner with the directors of the Writing Center and the Writing Across the University Program to achieve the goals of the Writing Excellence Initiative. Primary duties will include:
· Consulting about writing with individual faculty, staff, and Writing Center student consultants, and with groups from academic departments and Student Life programs;
· Developing print and online resources for student, faculty, and staff audiences;
· Contributing to the design and implementation of Writing Center and Writing Across the University programming, including writing workshops for faculty, staff, and students; and
· Coordinating assessment efforts for both the Writing Center and the Writing Across the University Program.
Qualifications: Applicants should have expertise and experience in providing effective writing support to students across the disciplines, and in writing-across-the-curriculum/writing-in-the-disciplines programs. M.A. in rhetoric/composition or related field, and experience teaching writing are required; experience in writing program administration, broadly conceived, is a plus; an ABD/Ph.D. in rhetoric/composition or a related field is preferred.
The position will pay $40,000 plus benefits. The Visiting Senior Program Coordinator will report to the Assistant Provost for Teaching and Learning, who oversees the Writing Excellence Initiative.
