The best resource for help on MediaWiki wikis like the Handout Resource is at WikiMedia Meta-Wiki. The Meta-Wiki seems to be written more on an expert level, so basic information on what a wiki is can be found here .

Another very good resource is the a tutorial constructed by WikiPedia.

[edit] A Note on Uploading Files

When you upload a file, make sure you use the "Media" tag rather than the "Image" tag. Using the "Media" tag allows you to link directly to the file. An "Image" tag will try to process the file as an image.
