- The Writing Lab Newsletter edited by Muriel Harris, provides
a monthly forum for writing center concerns during the academic year.
- The Writing Center Journal edited by Neal Lerner and Beth Boquet, offers
in its two issues per year longer articles on writing center theory
and research.
- The IWCA Update, edited by Nita Meola, Columbia College Chicago, provides a biennial forum for IWCA information and publishes a wide range of shorter texts.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Book manuscripts and proposals
are welcome on subjects concerning writing centers and other related issues.
Full manuscripts.
Full manuscripts should
be double-spaced and sent, along with a cover letter and a disk, preferably
in Word Perfect. Please do not send unrevised theses or dissertations.
Book proposals.
Proposals, with one to
three sample chapters, should include discussions of the following:
- Biographical information
- What other scholarly
activities have you been involved in? How did you become interested
in the project?
- Professional context
- What is the scholarly
context of your book?
- How does your book
differ from other scholarship in the field?
- Who is your audience?
- How will they use
the book?
- What are your objectives
in writing it?
- Organization
- The proposal should
include an outline of chapters with a brief summary of each one.
- What illustrations,
artwork, appendices, or bibliographies will be included?
- What do you anticipate
will be your primary conclusions?
- What is the book's
focus?
- How is the book innovative?
- Length and time
to completion
- At what stage is
the manuscript in at the present time? How long will it take for
the manuscript to be completed? What is the estimated length of
the book in pages (assuming 250 words per page)?
Review Process:
Upon receiving a proposal
we will make an initial determination as to the manuscript's suitability
for IWCA Press. Based upon this decision, we will either
- reject it
- send it to two readers
for review
Upon receiving the readers'
responses we will either
- reject the proposal
- ask for revision and
re-submission
- ask for the full manuscript
and set a time-table for completion
Upon receiving the full
manuscript, we will
- ask for revision or
send out contract and
time-table for publication|
IWCA Press will be responsible
for marketing.
Book writers will receive
five complimentary copies. Book editors will receive two complimentary
copies. Writers of individual chapters of books will receive one complimentary
copy. Books will be registered with the Library of Congress and given
ISBN numbers.
